Gas prices

Graph is from Organic Pics, December 2007.

I think that pretty much sums up why I am not complaining about gas prices in the US. Consider where I have lived and the prices there-- France and Germany. Yeah... no kidding, and it wasn't much better when we lived there.

YIKES! I'll likely still complain...but maintain a bit of perspective...

Ouch. Here in CA they are doing a daily thing in the paper tracking for when prices will hit $4 a gallon. Your graph does indeed put things in perspective, but given how fuel and food prices are skyrocketing, without any changes in our family finances, I have to say that I'll still be quite concerned about how all this plays out. Ya know?

yeah, i guess...but i'll still complain because I am like that. and like jen said...groceries have gone WAY up and gas and everything else under the moon but not jeff's salary and things are bit INSANE on the financial end...inflation raises should be made mandatory for all :)

Our country is so horribly mismanaged! Thanks for posting this graphic, Maria. How do we get papers to publish this??

Do you ever comment on political blogs?

The biggest complaint for food that I hear is milk, but we don't really drink milk in our home or eat much meat, so our food costs are mostly for organic fruits/veggies.

susie-- I do comment on some blogs, but not too many-- mostly local ones here.

courtney-- raising wages would only cause further raising of prices. Companies will still want their profit margin...

It is not only an American problem but also a severe topic in Germany as you can imagine by looking at Maria's graphic.

Prices for all groceries and especially energy costs (electricity, gas, oil etc.) have skied up just like the gasoline prices. Salaries/wages are not developing correspondingly.

The German economy is down and it's expected to get worse next year.

At times it can get depressing.
